Vinyl wrap VS. PPF
Vinyl wrap and Paint Protection Film are two completely different materials used for two very different reasons. Paint Protection Film is deliberately designed to protect the paint underneath it. Vinyl wraps are designed just for styling and customization. If your main goal is to protect your paint, Paint Protection Film is the route you want to go for. If you still want to change the color of your vehicle, luckily there are colored PPF materials for that aswell. But if your goal is to just change the look of your vehicle, then Vinyl wrap is a much better and cheaper approach!
-
For starters, Vinyl wrap is a much thinner material compared to PPF. Vinyl can range from 2 to 4 mils thick while PPF can range from 6 to 10 mils thick. PPF also has self-healing technology incorporated into it while Vinyl wrap does not.
-
Vinyl Wrap can protect your car against UV rays and light environmental hazards. Nothing cosmetically. PPF on the other hand protects your car from certain impacts, scratches, and is able to self-heal from minor scratches under certain temperatures.
-
Depending on the condition and maintenance of the vehicle, Vinyl can last up to 3-5 years while PPF can last up to 5-10 years.
